Oiva Toikka has fashioned a nearly life-size version of this iconic red-tailed hawk, who makes his home in the heart of Manhattan. Toikka's Pale Male has cream and tan marbling, and his tail is a flame of red and orange, cleverly offsetting the otherwise subtle coloring. And his beak is a metallic gray. Toikka has made an animated sculpture, true to the real life Pale Male. Toikka is one of the greatest names in Finnish glass, and his birds are his best-known pieces. All of Toikka's birds are highly collected, individually made, mouth-blown pieces of art. Each bird is handmade at Iittala's famous glassworks in Nuutajarvi, Finland. The Pale Male is signed by Toikka and numbered to 1,000.
