The shape and style of this Mosaic Patella is based on patellae from the early Imperial Roman period. The inner and outer surfaces have been rotary polished and show fine concentric polishing marks. Mark Taylor and David Hill specialize in researching the techniques involved in making Roman glass vessels, and in reproducing Roman glass using fusing and slumping, mold-blowing and free-blowing techniques.
