This book is a brilliant, detailed look at Paul J. Stankard's amazing paperweights, works that are more than glass depictions of the real world. As Timothy Close notes in the foreword, Stankard's pieces are also infused with a moral or symbolic message, and as time has passed, they have evolved to offer more drama, complexity, and poetry. It's a stunning book, which was published in conjunction with a 2011-12 exhibition at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington.
