Stankard Studio: Flower with Figure

Approx. 2 1/2" H. x 3 1/4" W.

Artist: Katherine Stankard Campbell

Katherine Stankard Campbell of Wenonah, NJ uses flameworking and painting on glass as a basis for her work in glass. An artist with Stankard Studios, Campbell has been working with glass since 1995 with her father, Paul Stankard.

She is currently focusing on a series of Paphiopedilum Orchids encased in crystal. Their graceful appearance drew her attention, as did their reputation as an exotic and unusual flower that evokes a sense of refinement and innocence. Orchids can convey a wide variety of messages, historically the meanings of orchids have included wealth, love, beauty and strength.

Campbell holds a BFA from the Philadelphia University of the Arts and an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She has exhibited her work at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center and Leo Kaplan, Ltd.
