"The Journey to Palomar" is the story of George Ellery Hale's epic quest to unravel the secrets of the cosmos, culminating with the construction in the 1930s and '40s of his million-pound "Glass Giant" of Palomar, the Hale 200-inch telescope. The film traces Hale's efforts to battle tycoons, technology and his personal demons to complete the project.
